Super Terriers Make History

Article published in Halifax Evening Courier – Yorkshire Terriers Under 12 & Under 16 teams both finished runners up in West Yorkshire Junior League.

YORKSHIRE Terriers under 12 and under 16 netball teams both made history by finishing runners up in the West Yorkshire Junior League.

And they saw their achievements recognised recently by being awarded the trophy.

The Yorkshire Terriers, who train at the Brooksbank School Sports College, have been running for six years and in the history of the club no age group has finished within the top three.

Therefore having two teams finishing runners up within the season is a remarkable achievement, and indeed the club narrowly missed out on becoming champions by just a few points.

After a slow start, the under 12s found their feet and finished the season having lost just three matches while the under 16s had been strongly tipped alongside Shipley Juniors and Leeds Carnegie for the title and by the halfway point in the season all three teams were neck and neck dominating the league.

The club has been built up from nothing to having over 70 members who train every Wednesday.

Coach Stacey Enright said: “The girls’ hard work and determination, together with great support from parents and schools made this the most successful season.”

The 2008/9 season has just started and following last season’s successes, Yorkshire Terriers are strongly tipped to do well in all age groups.
